Rainy days make dogs smell bad. Perhaps even to themselves.

This old sheep dog used to travel around with his owner, Garold, a farmer in Nebraska. I often saw him sitting in a field in the shade of a truck or a tree. Rainy days were hard on him and he'd look pretty sad. He protected a flock of geese at the house but was fairly friendly. A few years after this image was made he died and not long later all the geese had been eaten by coyotes
